Dog in wheelchair lived in Kansas shelter after owner died. Meet the ‘weenie on wheels’
A senior pup’s heart is on the mend after finding a new home in Kansas.
A 12-year-old dog, who ended up at the Helping Hands Humane Society in Topeka after his owner passed away, has been scooped up by his new family after being in the shelter for a short time.
Thing is, the senior pup is in a wheelchair — but it doesn’t hold him back.
“Meet Pepper, our 12-year-old weenie on wheels!” the shelter said in a Nov. 23 Facebook post.
“Pepper has been rocking his wheelchair for most of his life and doesn’t let it slow him down one bit!” the post read. “Our vet team will consult with Pepper’s new family before going home!”
Shortly after the shelter posted Pepper’s photo to Facebook, the pup was adopted, the animal center said in the comment section. Before the good news was announced, people flooded the comment section with love and inquiries.
“I was a vet student at Kansas state and had Pepper as my patient when he had his back surgery!” one person said. “He was a rockstar from right out of surgery and he won my heart back then!!”
“This little guy is amazing. We saw him yesterday,” another noted.
