A buck became “hopelessly tangled” in sports netting from a children’s playground in a Colorado yard, video shows.

Colorado Parks and Wildlife’s Southeast Region shared the upsetting video on X, formerly known as Twitter, to remind residents not to keep hazards on their property during certain times of the year. The startling find was in Woodland Park, about a 20-mile drive northwest from Colorado Springs.

“When you live with wildlife, it’s critical to remove hazards that can trap, injure and kill animals,” the agency said in the Nov. 20 post. “Sports nets and playgrounds pose chronic threats. Holiday decorations are dangers, too.”

Video shows the buck violently thrashing around in the netting, at one point even bracing itself behind a tree trying to free its antlers but making no progress.

“CPW Officers Aaron Berscheid and Travis Sauder found this buck hopelessly tangled in a playground and thrashing dangerously,” the agency said. “Exhausted, it was vulnerable to predators.”

Warning: Some viewers may find this video disturbing.

Video shows a wildlife officer tasing the buck to get it to stop struggling as another officer cuts it free. The animal’s body goes stiff as it falls over, hanging from its antlers as the officers cut through the netting.

Then, it struggles to its feet and stumbles away to freedom.
