Barber may have sexually assaulted 20 unconscious men and is on the run, CA officials say
A barber sexually assaulted two men and detectives believe he may have assaulted at least 20 more since 2018, California prosecutors say.
Franklin Enrique Sarceno Orla, 34, was charged with aggravated kidnapping , sodomy of an intoxicated person and sexual battery in relation to the two men’s sexual assaults, according to a Nov. 20 news release from Santa Clara County District Attorney’s Office and court documents.
“There was a sexual predator in our community, and we thank the Mountain View Police Department for identifying him,” District Attorney Jeff Rosen said in the release.
Mountain View police detectives started investigating Sarceno Orla in July, prosecutors said.
At the time, a man told police “he woke up injured and woozy after having drinks” with Sarceno Orla, per the release.
Testing revealed the man had been sexually assaulted, according to prosecutors.
Then, another man told police that Sarceno Orla was “his barber and he had lost consciousness while having beers with him,” prosecutors said.
Sarceno Orla was arrested on a sexual assault charge in late August; and he was released after posting $250,000 bail, prosecutors said.
Through additional investigation, police found evidence that showed Sarceno Orla “may have assaulted approximately 20 different men dating back to 2018 or before,” prosecutors said.
“Sarceno Orla videotaped many of the assaults,” according to prosecutors.
With these cases, the men “appear to be unconscious and/or intoxicated during the assaults,” prosecutors said.
Police detectives are trying to identify these victims, as well as any other potential victims.
Sarceno Orla is currently on the run, according to prosecutors.
“If caught and convicted, he could face life in prison,” prosecutors said.
