15-year-old football player fatally stabbed during fight, Arizona officials say
A 15-year-old boy was fatally stabbed during a fight in Arizona, officials said.
On Nov. 16, Jaylen Reeves, identified by FOX 10 as a student and football player at Mountain Pointe, was hanging out with friends when a fight broke out between them and an unknown group, according to a Nov. 17 news release by Phoenix police.
Officers found Reeves in critical condition from stab wounds and took him to a hospital where he eventually died, police said.
“Jaylen was known for his dedication on the football field and his selflessness off it. He was always the first to offer a helping hand, whether to a teammate, a friend in need, or a stranger. His generous spirit touched everyone who knew him,” according to a GoFundMe page.
The suspect is still at large, police said. Police did not identify a suspect.
In a Nov. 17 statement from Tempe Union High School District, officials said counselors and mental health support will be available to students and staff, AZ Family reported.
Police are still investigating and anyone with information is asked to call 480-948-6377.
