Armed burglary suspect is shot multiple times by homeowner’s son, Florida cops say

An armed burglary suspect accused of slipping into a Florida home in the middle of the night was discovered and killed during a confrontation by one of the residents, according to investigators.

It happened around 12:20 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 10, at home in Ruskin, about a 20-mile drive south from Tampa.

“When deputies arrived on the scene, they found the suspect deceased from multiple gunshot wounds,” the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release.

“Detectives determined the homeowner’s adult son shot the suspect after he broke into the home. The suspect was pronounced deceased at the scene.”

The suspect was identified as 46-year-old Tony Sei, the sheriff’s office told McClatchy News.

“He was armed with a handgun,” the sheriff’s office said.

Details of Sei’s enounter with the homeowner’s son were not released. The shooting remains under investigation.

“Imagine the fear of being awoken in the middle of the night to a stranger invading your home,” Hillsborough County Sheriff Chad Chronister said in a news release.

“This is every homeowner’s greatest fear, a dangerous and brazen individual breaking in, showing a complete disregard for the safety and security of others. Our thoughts are with this family as they recover from the trauma of this event.”
