3 teens die in shootout at apartment complex’s shared laundry room, Texas cops say
Three people are dead and two suspects are at large after a shootout between teenagers inside of an apartment complex’s shared laundry room, Texas police say.
Houston police officers responded to a shooting in progress at 8:46 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 5, at an apartment complex on the city’s southwest side, police said during a news briefing near the scene.
Officers arrived to find two teens shot and killed inside of the laundry facility, and another badly wounded just outside of it, police said.
According to investigators, two teenagers were inside the laundry room when another group of teens, three of them, showed up. There was “some type of disturbance” between the two groups, which escalated into a gunfight, with both sides shooting at the other, police said.
The first group of teens died on the spot, but one member of the second group was also struck by gunfire, police said.
The two uninjured teens fled the scene, leaving their wounded accomplice behind, police said, adding that he later died at a hospital.
Police have not identified the two suspects, but said they are searching for them.
Anyone with information is asked to contact the Houston Police Department’s homicide division at 713-308-3600.
