Lottery player wins life-changing prize at a Florida Winn-Dixie. Here’s where
A Florida lottery player won a $1 million windfall on a scratch-off game, officials say.
William Palm won the life-changing prize after trying his luck on a $5 Millionaire Maker scratch-off ticket, the Florida Lottery said in an Oct. 23 news release.
Palm purchased the winning ticket from a Winn-Dixie in Port Charlotte.
The Charlotte County man claimed his money Wednesday at the lottery’ headquarters in Tallahassee, taking home a lump-sum payment of $640,000, after taxes, officials said.
Palm didn’t say how he plans to spend his winnings.
The lucky ticket holder beat odds of 1-in-3,834,630 to win the $1 million top prize, according to the Florida Lottery’s website. Two of six top prizes remained in the Millionaire Maker game as of Oct. 25.
Port Charlotte is about a 35-mile drive northwest from Fort Myers.
