A grocery store worker has critical injuries after being shot multiple times in the shopping center’s parking lot, according to Pennsylvania police.

The shooting happened around 11:10 p.m. Monday, Oct. 7, outside a ShopRite in the Olney neighborhood of Philadelphia, according to the Philadelphia Police Department.

Officers said the 23-year-old worker was putting away shopping carts when he got into “some sort of confrontation” with a 30-year-old customer, according to KYW Newsradio and WCAU.

The customer then shot the worker, striking him in the stomach, left hand and left arm, according to police.

Officers said the accused shooter has a license to carry a firearm, WTXF reported. He was taken into custody, and a weapon was recovered, police said.

It’s unclear if the customer has been charged.

Officers said the worker was hospitalized and was listed in critical condition.
