A family of four is dead in what Texas police are calling a murder-suicide.

On Sept. 7, Amarillo officers were called to a home after a family member called 911, according to a news release.

When officers arrived, they found the bodies of two adults and two children.

Police said evidence showed that Jose David Olmos, 42, fatally shot Jessica Rose Olmos and her two children, then killed himself.

The two children have been identified as Jazele and Daniel, according to KVII.

“Jazele and Daniel were so sweet, I can still picture them giggling and laughing when Daniel jumped on her back. You will all be deeply missed by those who knew you and loved you,” one person wrote on Facebook.

Jose and Jessica Olmos were married and police told KAMR that Jose Olmos had no relation to the children. The couple had a history of domestic violence in the home, according to court records obtained by the news outlet.

In May, Jose Olmos was charged with assault after hitting Jessica Olmos, court records said. He pleaded guilty and was ordered to have no contact with Jessica Olmos or Daniel.

“Jessica had recently returned back to the home to reconcile the marriage to try to make it better and the children also lived in the home at the time,” Lt. James Clements told KAMR.
