A man is going to prison after pleading guilty to sexually abusing a 14-year-old girl in New Mexico, officials said.

In July 2022, Amadius Archuleta, of Dulce, was 21 years old when he met the teen on Instagram, according to a Sept. 5 news release by the U.S. Attorney’s Office District of New Mexico.

Prosecutors say Archuleta, who was aware of the girl’s age, gave the girl alcohol and marijuana when they met up.

Then he sexually abused her at an abandoned Taos Pueblo house, prosecutors said.

Archuleta sexually abused the girl while holding her arms down and covering her mouth while she screamed, court documents said.

McClatchy News reached out to Archuleta’s lawyer on Sept. 6 and was awaiting a response.

Archuleta was sentenced to two years in prison and 15 years of supervised release, officials said.

After being released from prison, he must register as a sex offender, officials said.

Taos Pueblo is about a 130-mile drive northeast of Albuquerque.
