Missing puppies linked to mysterious death of dog breeder, Colorado officials say
A dog breeder’s missing puppies might be a key clue to solving his murder, Colorado officials said.
No one had heard from Paul Peavey, a Doberman breeder, since Aug. 19 and eventually he was reported missing on Aug. 21, according to a news release by the Clear Creek County Sheriff’s Office.
On Aug. 24, a search-and-rescue party found Peavey’s body and an investigation into his death was launched, deputies said.
Up to ten of Peavey’s Doberman puppies were missing from his property, officials said.
Deputies believe the microchipped puppies may have been sold through social media sites, according to a Facebook post by the department.
Deputies anyone who has purchased a Doberman to check for a microchip and call 303-679-2393, officials said.
Anyone who bought a Doberman through Peavey’s business, Elite European Dobermans, since June 2024 is asked to call the department as the “unaccounted for puppies may also help solve” Peavey’s death, officials said.
Clear Creek County is about a 40-mile drive west of Denver.
