Missing man last seen leaving friend’s house found dead in desert, AZ rescuers say
A missing 45-year-old was found dead in a remote desert area nearly a week after he vanished in Arizona, rescuers said.
Adam Robert Reigh’s body was found at about 6 a.m. July 9 near White Hills, the Mohave County Sheriff’s Office Search and Rescue said in a Facebook post.
Reigh was last seen leaving his friend’s house at about 3 a.m. July 3, rescuers said.
His friends spotted his abandoned vehicle two days later “in a desert area near White Hills,” rescuers said.
Rescuers said they began looking for him in this area and found some of his personal items about a mile from his vehicle.
Tracking teams, search dogs, drones and helicopters were used to look for him in an area with Joshua trees, creosote bushes and cactuses.
Rescue teams also had to navigate an area with many dangers, including rattlesnakes and mine shafts in hot weather reaching temperatures above 112 degrees.
Reigh’s body was found six days after he was last seen in a “remote and rugged desert wilderness” near White Hills, rescuers said.
Foul play isn’t suspected, and “it appears that he has (succumbed) to the elements,” though a medical examiner will determine his cause of death, rescuers said.
White Hills is an unincorporated community in northwestern Arizona near the Arizona-Nevada border.
