A carnival ride locked up in midair, stranding an estimated 18 riders aboard, California firefighters reported.

A ride at a community festival stopped working at 8:05 p.m. Sunday, June 23, in a Thousand Oaks park, the Ventura County Fire Department said in a news release.

“Firefighters were able to successfully rescue all riders, by manually lowering the amusement ride,” rescuer said. There were no reported injuries.

The rescue took about 35 minutes.

The Zipper thrill ride was at Conejo Creek Park South, which is hosting the Conejo Valley Days festival through June 30, KTLA reported.

Thousand Oaks is about a 40-mile drive west of downtown Los Angeles.
