What to know
Here’s what you need to know before diving into the bonus fifth episode “Breaking the Silence.”
In his interview, Bell opens up about the alleged sexual abuse he experienced by way of child dialogue coach Brian Peck, who was arrested on a charge of lewd acts with a child in 2003 and was later convicted and registered as a sex offender.
Bell said he has not received apologies from anyone who supported Peck during the 2004 trial since the series premiered, BuzzFeed News reported.
The first episode premiered March 18, and the fourth — and then-final — episode aired March 22. It has reached the “largest audience of an unscripted series” ever on Max/discovery+ (the merged rebrand of HBO Max and Discovery+) and continues to bring in new viewers, the network said.
The series has dominated social media conversations for weeks and even inspired nostalgic characters from millennial childhood shows such as Steve Burns from Nickelodeon’s “Blue’s Clues” to check in on fans via TikTok, McClatchy News previously reported.
Former Nickelodeon child star Alexa Nikolas of “Zoey 101” chimed in to discuss the toxic and inappropriate work environment created by former Nickelodeon producer Dan Schneider, McClatchy News reported.
Bell and others from the first four episodes will return, and new voices will join them in the new episode to build on the “revelations explored” in the previous episodes, the network said. Included among the new participants is former “All That” cast member Shane Lyons.
“Award-winning journalist Soledad O’Brien will lead the conversation in the new episode to discuss where the industry can go from here,” the network said.
