A woman was held in a church, tied up with ropes and beaten by three men, Missouri police say.

St. Louis police did not share how long the woman had been held but said her head was injured as a result of the beatings. Police found her on Feb. 21.

Three men — Pasi Heri, 32; Grace Kipendo, 28; and Mmunga Fungamali, 25 — were charged with kidnapping and assault, court records show. Police say the victim identified them.

Heri and Kipendo are Missouri residents while Fungamali’s partial address suggests he is from Canada.

The three men were arrested on Feb. 24 and are being held without bond, according to court records. They are scheduled to appear in court at 12 p.m. on Feb. 26.

The woman was given only water during her captivity, police say. The room where she was held also had a bucket used as a toilet, according to a probable cause statement.

St. Louis police told McClatchy News the church was located on the 300 block of Marceau St.
