Owner can’t take ‘shy’ NC rescue dog on deployment. Now Bellatrix needs a new home
A rescued dog’s owner is being deployed — and now the pup needs another home, a North Carolina shelter said.
“Sadly he had just returned from another deployment so I’ve been missing him so much,” Carolina Animal Rescue & Adoption (CARA) said in a Facebook post written from the perspective of Bellatrix the dog.
“He jokes that I am not a very good (guard) dog because I am such a quiet girly,” the rescue organization wrote. “He also says I move throughout the house like a ninja but he knows where I am because he can hear my little nails clicking on the floor.”
As of Nov. 3, Bellatrix is up for adoption in Sanford, roughly 40 miles southwest of Raleigh. She is described as a “playful” but “shy” 2-year-old dog with a love for going on walks.
Bellatrix first found a new home two years ago, when her owner took her from another Raleigh-area facility. CARA in an email told McClatchy News it isn’t sure how she ended up at her first rescue.
But this time around, CARA said Bellatrix’s owner won’t be able to take her on his next deployment. The organization believes he will be away for an unpredictable amount of time, and he had reached out to foster care programs before deciding to give up the dog.
“Please help me find a home, and wish my dad safety,” wrote the animal rescue, which has additional adoption information online at cara-nc.org.
