‘Dangerous’ convicted sex offender found after escaping hospital, Missouri cops say
UPDATE: Tommy Wayne Boyd was “located and taken into custody” on Thursday, Sept. 21, after police say the 45-year-old escaped custody while receiving treatment at a hospital, setting off a manhunt in St. Louis, Missouri.

Police in St. Louis are looking for an inmate who escaped after being taken to a hospital for treatment.
The St. Louis County Police Department posted to its Facebook page Thursday, Sept. 21, warning people to be on the lookout.
Tommy Wayne Boyd, 45, is serving a 30-year prison sentence for statutory sodomy, according to police.
Boyd is seen on surveillance footage walking out of the hospital the morning of Sept. 21.
“Please secure your doors, garages, and vehicles and be aware of our children heading off to school,” the St. Louis County Police Affton Southwest Precinct posted on Facebook.
Police say Boyd was last seen around 3:55 a.m. by hospital staff. He is described by police as “a White male, 5’7”, 154 pounds with balding hair and a beard. He was last seen wearing a black sweatshirt, black jacket, and orange slippers.”
It’s unknown if he is armed, but he should be considered dangerous, police said.
The state Department of Corrections is investigating how Boyd was able to escape, police said during a press conference.
Boyd was convicted in 1996 of first-degree statutory sodomy. The victim was 11 years old and Boyd was 18, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol Sex Offender Registry.
Anyone who sees Boyd is asked to call 911 or the St. Louis County Police Department at 636-529-8210.
