Man repeatedly stabbed during child custody exchange at McDonald’s, Michigan cops say
A man was repeatedly stabbed during a child custody exchange outside of a McDonald’s restaurant in Michigan, according to local news reports.
The Portage Department of Public Safety was called to the parking lot at about 6:30 p.m. Monday, July 3, WXMI reported.
Officers learned two men — the suspect and his sister’s ex-boyfriend — got into a fight during the child custody exchange, according to MichiganLive.
The suspect, a 19-year-old man from Portage, then stabbed the ex-boyfriend several times in his back, MichiganLive reported.
Authorities said the injured man, a 24-year-old from Kalamazoo, was taken to a hospital with critical injuries, according to WXMI.
Other people who had gone to the exchange with both of the men also began fighting, WKZO reported. Several were injured, but they refused treatment.
The 19-year-old man was arrested, WKZO reported, and an investigation is ongoing.
McClatchy News reached out to the Portage Department of Public Safety on July 4 for updated information and was awaiting a response.
Portage is about 60 miles south of Grand Rapids.
