Wolves sink teeth into calf in Yellowstone — then bison come charging, video shows
A baby bison was napping away from its herd in Yellowstone National Park when a pack of wolves cornered it, and sunk their teeth into its neck, a video shows.
Then two bison came charging to its rescue.
The video was captured by Yellowstone Wolf Tracker guide Michael Sypniewski on June 10 in Lamar Valley, which is in the northeastern part of the park in Wyoming.
A helpless baby bison is seen in the video separated from its herd as wolves surround it.
“I thought for sure the wolves were on their way to securing an easy meal,” Sypniewski wrote in an Instagram post.
Then two massive bison are seen storming toward the wolves. They swiftly get the calf between them as they move it to safety.
“Perfect coordination on that move too. I don’t know how bison communicate but they had a plan,” one person commented on the video.
Sypniewski said it appeared the calf only had minor injuries.
