Plane crash at airport kills two in Oklahoma, officials say
Two people are dead after a plane crashed at an airport in Oklahoma, state officials say.
The red and white Cessna 170 went down around 8:30 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 28, the Oklahoma Highway Patrol said in a news release, sharing photos of the crumpled wreckage at the Gage Airport.
The small airstrip is located a short distance outside of Gage. The far western Oklahoma town of less than 500 residents is roughly 160 miles northwest of Oklahoma City.
It’s not clear if the plane was taking off or landing and officials haven’t said what may have caused the crash, but the Federal Aviation Administration is investigating.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with the families involved,” Highway Patrol said.
