A deadly crash knocked power lines down onto a school bus in Ohio, trapping students inside until help arrived, police told news outlets.

Blue Ash police responded to the scene of the wreck around 12:30 p.m. on Oct. 25, TV station WCPO reported.

A northbound Jeep veered off the road and crashed into a utility pole, police told WLWT. The 44-year-old driver died, and power lines fell across a nearby Sycamore Community Schools bus.

The bus — with two preschool children, a bus monitor and driver onboard — was trapped in place, WXIX reported. No one in the bus was hurt, but they stayed inside until after first responders arrived and they could safely exit.

A section of the road was closed down and workers arrived at the scene to repair the damage, police said.

An investigation into the crash is underway.

Blue Ash is a suburb of Cincinnati.
