Deserted village has a haunting vibe — and it can be yours for $1.8 million in Canada
Ever dream of being the mayor of your very own town?
It could happen for one lucky owner — for $1.8 million.
Its name is Edeweiss Village and this hauntingly beautiful place is tucked away in the wild of British Columbia. It was built to house Swiss guides by the Canadian Pacific Railway in the early 1900s, the listing on Realtor.ca says.
The village, with six homes on 50 acres, has since been abandoned due to its placement on top of a “wooded hill,” which made it delivering “supplies rather difficult,” TimeOut reported.
That doesn’t stop the aesthetic appeal the place has, which is similar to that of a vintage fairy tale.
“These incredibly unique buildings feature amazing wood work, wooden stair cases and views that are hard beat from every window,” the listing says.
“The historic homes all have updated plumbing, heating and electrical components electrical with 100 to 125 Amp services, as well as updated oil furnaces from the early 2000’s.”
The main, two-story residence was built in 1978 and has ample decks to sit around and simply enjoy the view.
The village is even listed on Tourism Golden Rules as a Canadian destination.
“Found on a hillside at the west entrance to town, the original homes still stand overlooking Golden and the Columbia Valley,” the caption says.
The town of Golden is about 163 miles northwest of Calgary.
