‘Island House’ in California? Check out this ‘one-of-a-kind’ property listed for $29M
A fabulous home, lovingly dubbed The Island House, has waded onto the California real estate market in the picturesque neighborhood of Corona del Mar in Newport Beach for $29.5 million.
Sitting at 7,168 square feet, the home, which boasts breathtaking ocean views from nearly every room, gets its nickname from the fact it “floats above its surroundings with no direct neighbor,” the listing on Realtor.com says.
With seven bedrooms and 10 bathrooms, the historic property — considered an “architectural gem” and “one-of-a-kind” — resides on the famous Ocean Boulevard in Newport Beach.
But while the home boats an extravagant exterior, its most alluring qualities can be found inside.
The interior has a prestigious indoor/outdoor concept, which blends “traditional and contemporary design,” the listing says. It highlights the captivating sea views that flow through along with the ocean air.
Highlights in and around the home, according to the listing, include:
Fleetwood windows
BBQ kitchen and bar
Putting green
650-bottle wine room
15-seat theater
Game room
Open air deck
According to The Orange County Register, the listing originally said that the home was considered a “presidential retreat” for Ronald Reagan and his family. But when asked for a comment, The Ronald Reagan Presidential Foundation and Institute reportedly couldn’t confirm that was true.
