Metallica allowing fans to stream concerts for band’s 40th anniversary. How to tune in
Metallica is celebrating its 40th anniversary, and the legendary rock band wants to ensure its fans are included in the special occasion.
The rock band performed two historical sets Dec. 17 and 19 in San Francisco, and now those concerts will be available for Amazon Prime subscribers to stream. Fans can watch the shows Christmas weekend, beginning Friday, Dec. 24 until Monday, Dec. 27.
The concerts feature the live debut of the 1997 song “Fixxer,” along with other rarities and surprises.
Metallica’s first concert from San Francisco was referred to by The Mercury News as a “show unlike any other” as they delivered a “triumphant showing.”
Some of the songs on the second night had not been played in more than a decade, Loudwire reported.
“From the opening notes, something felt different as the audience, no longer trying to figure out what was happening, surrendered to the moment,” Rolling Stone said of the second concert. “Looking around the arena, heads banged harder than usual, fists pumped lustily and voices trumpeted louder during the many sing-along moments.”
Metallica, who was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2009, have an exclusive partnership with Amazon and other Metallica films are already on its streaming service.
The concerts are available through The Coda Collection on Amazon Prime, featuring an assortment of music documentaries, films and specials available on the service. Amazon Prime is $12.99 per month and The Coda Collection is an additional $4.99 per month, with both offering free trials.
