A 61-year-old man jumped into an Oregon river to evade deputies last month, the sheriff’s office said.

Weeks later, his body was recovered.

Authorities responded to a trespassing call on Oct. 10 in Grants Pass around 7:15 p.m. when they ran into Ricky Allen McCord, who gave them a false name, the Josephine County Sheriff’s Office said.

Once identified, officials learned the man had a felony arrest warrant when he fled.

Deputies searched the area for McCord but couldn’t find him.

McCord’s body was then found floating in the river on Oct. 29, deputies said.
