Police sergeant accused of killing her husband for abusing their child, Georgia cops say
A 53-year-old police sergeant is accused of fatally shooting her 50-year-old husband for abusing their child, Georgia police said.
Investigators say the police sergeant killed her husband at their house in Monticello around 7:50 p.m. Oct. 26 for physically assaulting their daughter, CBS46 and other outlets reported.
McClatchy News is not naming the parents to protect the identity of the child.
The sergeant works for the DeKalb County Police Department and was placed on administrative leave while officials investigate the incident, a department spokesperson told McClatchy News.
The Georgia Bureau of Investigation is leading the investigation, the spokesperson said.
She hasn’t been arrested or charged at this time, Fox 5 Atlanta reported.
Monticello is about 60 miles southeast of Atlanta.
