If you have raw walnuts, in halves or pieces, from Trader Joe’s you need to check the packaging. The grocer is recalling some lots because of a potential risk of salmonella.
Salmonella can be fatal in young children, the elderly and those with compromised immune systems. In most healthy individuals it can produce fever, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain.
The recall is nationwide. So far no illnesses related to the walnuts have been reported to the company.
The list of affected lot numbers and best by dates are in this safety recall notice.
