Video: How the I-5 bridge over the Skagit River will be rebuilt
The Washington Department of Transportation has released this animated video showing how the Interstate 5 bridge over the Skagit River will be rebuilt:
Parts to build the temporary bridge began arriving last week. Work to build the structure will begin as soon as the National Transportation Safety Board concludes its on-site investigation, though DOT officials said they are on pace to meet Gov. Jay Inslee's challenge to reconnect I-5 by mid-June.
Contractor crews will place two temporary bridge sections, side by side. One section will carry northbound traffic; the other will carry southbound traffic.
