A suspected drunken driver was arrested early Sunday, June 8, after hitting a pedestrian on North Garden Street in Bellingham.
A 22-year-old man had been walking in a crosswalk around 1:30 a.m. when a red Ford Focus turned right from East Chestnut Street onto North Garden and hit the young man, said Bellingham Police Sgt. Mike Scanlon.
The pedestrian suffered a leg injury that wasn’t life-threatening.
The driver, Jacob Christian Smith, 32, of Ferndale, failed sobriety tests, Scanlon said.
