Fire damages detached garage in Bellingham; home spared
Officials are still trying to determine the cause of a fire that burned parts of a garage Monday night, May 2.
The Bellingham Fire Department was dispatched to 2626 Iron St. after multiple 911 calls reported the garage behind the house was on fire, Battalion Chief Cary Gustafson said Monday night. The garage, which is detached from the house, is only accessible from an alley behind the home.
Flames and smoke were coming off the roof of the garage when crews arrived, Gustafson said. Only a portion of the wood-frame garage was on fire, he added.
Firefighters, within seconds, were able to keep the blaze from spreading to any other buildings, Gustafson said, and had the fire extinguished within 20 minutes.
No one was injured, Gustafson said.
