Three masked suspects burglarized a marijuana store in the 1800 block of James Street just before 3 a.m. Wednesday morning, according to the Bellingham Police Department.

The Joint opened last month on the corner of James and Ohio streets.

Bellingham Police posted a video clip and photos from store surveillance cameras to its Twitter page about an hour after the incident.

Officers responded to an alarm at the store at 3 a.m. and noticed doors on the building’s north and south sides had been smashed in, said Lt. Robert Vander Yacht, a BPD spokesman. Officers searched the building to find no one inside, and a search with a dog led south, but not very far, Vander Yacht said.

Store management was still taking inventory of the loss, but estimated it was worth about “a few thousand dollars,” Vander Yacht added.

With no known suspects, police are asking anyone who may know the people in the photos and video for information. BPD’s tipline can be reached by phone at (360) 778-8611 or online at www.cob.org/tips.
