Matching human foot in shoe washes up on Vancouver Island

A second human foot that washed up on Vancouver Island last week matches another foot found Feb. 7 in the same area.

According to a Canadian Press article in The Province, the B.C. Coroners Service says the feet separated naturally from the body after a long time in the water.

The feet were found in men’s New Balance running shoes that went on the market in March 2013, so officials believe the person died between then and December 2015.

Through DNA testing, officials will try to identify the person and determine cause of death, according to CP. None of the seven people so far identified from the total 14 feet washed up since 2007 are believed to be murder victims. Suicide is suspected in most cases.
