Police: Whatcom County woman attacks partner with knives
A woman was booked into jail this week on suspicion of attacking her partner with knives.
Kristina Renee Soliz, 30, of Michael Road, had been out late Saturday, Nov. 21, gambling with her 34-year-old partner at a local casino, according to the Whatcom County Sheriff’s Office.
The other woman left the casino to go home and get to bed. Soliz came home later, in the early morning hours of Sunday, and for reasons that aren’t clear the women got into an argument, said Whatcom County Undersheriff Jeff Parks. That escalated into a fight. Soliz came at the woman with a knife and put her in a headlock, Parks said.
At some point the woman wrested a knife from Soliz and stabbed her in the thigh. Soliz left the room and came back with two knives, Parks said.
Deputies believe alcohol was a factor in the fight. Afterward Soliz went to a neighbor’s house with beer in hand, according to the sheriff’s office. The neighbors called 911.
Soliz was medically treated for injuries to her leg and neck, then booked into Whatcom County Jail a few hours later on suspicion of assault in the first degree. She remained in jail Tuesday, with bail set at $15,000.
Her partner did not suffer serious injuries. She told deputies she feared for her life and stabbed Soliz in self-defense.
