Blaine police find bank robber waiting for them

A man robbed a bank and waited outside for police to arrest him Thursday, Oct. 29, according to the Blaine Police Department.

Gregory Jason Walker, 49, handed a note to a teller asking for cash at U.S. Bank, 280 H St., around 4:30 p.m., said police spokeswoman Lisa Moeller.

He walked out of the bank with the cash and the note, but stayed in the area. Police found Walker sitting outside, Moeller said.

Walker never displayed a weapon and no weapon was found on him. Moeller said the exact wording of the note was unavailable Friday.

Walker, when contacted by police, handed them the cash and admitted to having been in the bank. He did not offer any further explanation, Moeller said.

Walker was arrested and booked into Whatcom County Jail on suspicion of first-degree robbery.
