Police seek man accused of stabbing father at Bellingham motel

Bellingham police were searching for a man accused of stabbing his father in the thigh Monday morning, Oct. 12, at a Motel 6.

The man and his father got into an argument about money that came to blows around 11:30 a.m., said Bellingham Police Sgt. Mike Scanlon. In the fight, the son stabbed his father in the thigh several times, leaving several deep stab wounds, Scanlon said.

The son fled the motel at 3701 Byron St., off Samish Way, before police could find him. Police described the suspect as white, about 5-foot-8 and 150 pounds, wearing a serape-style cloak.

An ambulance rushed the father to St. Joseph hospital. His injuries aren’t considered life-threatening.

Names and ages of the people involved hadn’t been released as of Monday afternoon.
