Police arrested a father after finding his 6-year-old daughter left alone in a parked car and waiting more than an hour for him to return Sunday night, Oct. 4.
An Everson police officer found the girl in a car with the windows closed by the Nooksack River bridge just before 6 p.m., said Everson Police Chief Dan MacPhee.
The girl told police that her dad, 23-year-old Tyler George Davis, had left. She didn’t know how long he’d been gone.
Davis came back to the car about an hour and a half after the police found his daughter. He told police that he walked down to the Nooksack River, but he didn’t say what he was doing there, MacPhee said.

Officers placed Davis under arrest after discovering he was in possession of drug paraphernalia. He also was booked into jail on suspicion of abandonment of a dependent person in the third degree and reckless endangerment.
MacPhee said the temperature outside was in the mid- to low 60s, and the 6-year-old girl was unharmed. She was returned to another parent.
