Mount Vernon fatal shooting investigation leads to three Whatcom County arrests
Three people were arrested in Maple Falls on Thursday in connection with a June 11 fatal shooting in Mount Vernon that left a 23-year-old man dead.
The Mount Vernon Police Department said a warrant was served on the 9000 block of Lacie Lane, and three people were arrested. The Whatcom County Sheriff’s Office and Bellingham Police Department SWAT teams and crisis negotiators assisted with the arrests.
A 17-year-old boy from Mount Vernon and 20-year-old woman from Burlington were taken into custody on suspicion of charges related to the homicide, and a 26-year-old man from Mount Vernon was arrested for unlawful possession of a firearm. A gun with an obliterated serial number was found at the scene, according to police, but it was not believed to have been used in the shooting.
