North Bellingham disturbance call leads to assault arrest related to stabbing
A 32-year-old Bellingham man was arrested Saturday on suspicion of first-degree assault for stabbing a person who was known to him, according to the Whatcom County Sheriff’s Office.
WCSO spokesperson Deb Slater said police were called to the 4900 block of Guide Meridian Road at 2:15 p.m. Saturday for a reported stabbing. When officers arrived, they saw two people leaving a residence, one with a bandage on their arm.
The person with the wound told authorities the 32-year-old stabbed them, according to Slater. The man admitted to hurting someone, but was not specific about whom.
The person who was stabbed was taken to St. Joseph Medical Center in Bellingham. The 32-year-old man was taken into custody on suspicion of first-degree assault domestic violence. He remains in custody at Whatcom County Jail on $1 million bail. He has yet to be formally charged.
