Sheriff’s Office arrests three Whatcom County men for separate weekend assaults
Three Bellingham men were arrested over the weekend on suspicion of second-degree assault in separate cases, according to the Whatcom County Sheriff’s Office.
Sheriff’s Office spokesperson Deb Slater said the first incident occurred around 11:50 p.m. Friday, when officers responded to a residence near Bellingham and found a person with a swollen lump on their forehead. The person told police that they’d gotten into an argument with a 45-year-old man known to them, and he shoved and kicked them.
The second assault took place around 11:30 p.m. Saturday and also stemmed from an argument, Slater said. The victim told police that a 29-year-old man put his arms around their neck and began strangling them. A witness was able to pull the man off of the victim. Police did not categorize this assault as related to domestic violence.
The third assault occurred in the Sudden Valley area around 2:45 p.m. Sunday. Slater said a 33-year-old man attempted to strangle a person known to him.
All three men were taken to Whatcom County Jail and remained in custody as of Monday afternoon.
