Police asking for assistance in cold case on anniversary of homicide
The Bellingham Police Department is raising public attention around a cold case murder on the 16th anniversary of 43-year-old Bryan L. Marriott’s death.
Marriott was found fatally shot next to his car at the intersection of East Ivy and North Garden streets in Bellingham on Nov. 20, 2009. Police said witnesses heard an argument just before the shooting, and saw a dark-colored car leaving the area.
Marriott was born in Newport Beach, California, and moved to Bellingham in 1996, according to his obituary.
In an Instagram post on Monday, Bellingham Police said there has been “little to no” new information in the case since the shooting. They wrote that by bringing attention to the case again, someone may remember a detail to help solve the case or the person involved may come forward to “help provide answers and closure for Mr. Marriott’s family.”
Crime Stoppers of Puget Sound is offering a $1,000 reward for any information leading to an arrest and charge of homicide in this case. All tips made are anonymous.
