Report of assault, robbery at Bellingham motel leads to three arrests
Whatcom County authorities have arrested three men after a report of a burglary and robbery at a Bellingham motel.
The three suspects allegedly entered a motel room occupied by a man and woman July 27 at the Days Inn at 215 N Samish Way. The men entered the room through an open window, according to court documents.
Court documents allege the three suspects demanded the two occupants of the motel room tell them the location of a third person they had expected to find there. The suspects also asked where “the money” was, according to court documents.
The man the suspects were looking for had been living in the motel room for several months, according to court documents. He had been there at the time of the break-in but fled the room when the suspects entered through the window.
Court documents allege the three men — Alec James Dunn-Greketis, 36, Daniel John Bock, 43 and Tyler James Mattingley, 20 — assaulted the man while the woman attempted to protect him by putting her arms over him.
The three men stole two phones from the woman and a safe that contained illegal drugs, according to Lt. Claudia Murphy with the Bellingham Police Department.
The phones and the safe were estimated to be worth $2,600, according to court records.
Police were called to the scene around 4 p.m. Between witness interviews and surveillance footage, officers were able to identify the three men involved in the burglary and robbery.
Mattingley was charged with first-degree burglary and robbery, both class A felonies, Sept. 4 while in custody at Whatcom County Jail for an unrelated incident.
Dunn-Greketis was arrested Sept. 9 by officers with the Bellingham Police Department. He has also been charged with first-degree burglary and robbery.
Bock turned himself in outside Whatcom County Jail to a detective Sept. 16, according to Murphy. He also has been charged with first-degree burglary and robbery.
Dunn-Greketis and Mattingley are currently at Whatcom County jail, while Bock has bonded out of custody, according to jail records.
