Two arrested after Whatcom task force discovers alleged cocaine cook site

Whatcom County authorities have arrested two people following an investigation that led to the discovery of what law enforcement officials are calling a crack cocaine cooking station.

Investigators with the Whatcom Regional Drug Task Force (WRDTF) observed a suspect in the parking lot of a convenience store on Tuesday, June 10 in the 4200 block of Guide Meridian. The investigators believed a 37-year-old suspect was conducting a drug deal, according to Deb Slater with the Whatcom County Sheriff’s Office.

Later that day, task force members served a search warrant for the suspect’s hotel room located in the 100 block of East Kellogg Road in Bellingham, according to Slater. There they found the suspect from earlier in the day along with a second suspect, a 27-year-old woman, Slater said. They also found the alleged drug cooking station.

The male suspect was arrested on suspicion of four counts of delivery of a controlled substance-crack cocaine, a class B felony; delivery of a controlled substance-fentanyl, a class B felony; possession with intent to deliver-cocaine, a class B felony; maintaining a premises for drug trafficking, a class C felony; and manufacturing of a controlled substance-crack cocaine, a class C felony.

The female suspect was also arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to deliver-crack cocaine, maintaining a premises for drug trafficking and manufacturing of a controlled substance-crack cocaine.

Neither suspect had been formally charged as of Wednesday afternoon.
