Authorities arrested a Bellingham man who is suspected of attempting to break into his neighbor’s house in the Cordata neighborhood and threatening to kill him.

Christopher Scott Rogers, 38, rang a neighbor’s doorbell around 10:30 p.m. March 26 and tried to open the door, according to Lt. Claudia Murphy with the Bellingham Police Department.

Rogers allegedly attempted to kick open the door and yelled that he knew who was in the house and that he was going to come inside to kill the person living there, Murphy said.

Rogers was no longer at the scene when police arrived. After interviewing the person living at the home, police visited Roger’s home, where he surrendered without incident.

Rogers has been charged with residential burglar and harassment/threatening bodily injury or to kill, both class C felonies. He remains in custody at Whatcom County Jail.
