Woods Coffee at Bellingham’s Boulevard Park among recent businesses targeted by thieves
A burglary at Woods Coffee at Boulevard Park is among the most recent in a string of such crimes across Bellingham over the last few months.
Someone broke in between Sunday night and Monday morning and stole about $1,500 in cash, merchandise and equipment. They also caused a few hundred dollars worth of damage, assistant manager Blake Warner told The Bellingham Herald in an interview Wednesday morning.
“Our opener showed up (Monday morning), and she walked in through our back door and realized the office was torn apart,” Warner said. “What had happened was somebody broke in through the window (in the back patio of the coffeehouse). They got into our merchandise and everything back here. They stole one of our registers, stole money in the back office … they got into a lot of stuff.”
The coffeehouse closed Monday morning but reopened after a couple of hours, Warner said. He said it is sad to be a part of the burglaries that have been happening across Fairhaven and Bellingham.
“It could have been a lot worse. Of course it is sad when it happens, and unfortunately it does happen, but thankfully everybody was safe.”
