The Bellingham Herald

Authorities have arrested a suspect as part of an investigation into the robbery of a bank inside a Haggen grocery store in Bellingham’s Fairhaven community.

The suspect, identified as Seattle resident Arvin Kenti Edwards, 46, was taken into custody Nov. 1 by the Bellingham police, with assistance from the U.S. Marshal’s Violent Offender Task Force, in the 6000 block of Guide Meridian Avenue, according to Megan Peters with the Bellingham Police Department.

An individual robbed the People’s Bank inside the Haggen store in Fairhaven the evening of April 1. Multiple agencies responded to the robbery, but the robber escaped before they arrived.

Peters told The Herald that BPD detectives conducted a “meticulous investigation” and were eventually able to determine Edwards as a suspect.

Edwards was arrested on suspicion of first-degree robbery, class A felony, and second-degree theft, a class B felony. He was booked into the Whatcom County jail, where he is being detained without bail.
