Whatcom County authorities recently arrested a woman suspected of pepper spraying another driver in a parking lot before striking him with her vehicle, according to Amy Cloud with the Whatcom County Sheriff’s Office.

Witnesses reported the woman, Nyiesha Alaina Walker, 48, told the victim, who was backing into a parking spot in the 3400 block of McLeod Road, that she was in a hurry and needed to get out quickly. Walker later told law enforcement she gave the other driver one warning before pepper spraying him in the face, according to Cloud.

The other driver exited the car and stepped in front of Walker’s vehicle to get the license plate information, and Walker’s car “made contact with the victim about two to three times,” Cloud said.

The man showed injuries from the pepper spray to the face, but no injuries resulting from being struck by a vehicle were reported to Cloud.

Walker drove away from the scene and was later contacted by police, who placed her under arrest. Police report she “pulled away” when the deputy attempted to place her in custody, which developed probable cause for resisting arrest, Cloud said.

Walker was arrested on suspicion of resisting arrest, a misdemeanor, and second-degree assault, a class B felony.
