Whatcom County man arrested, charged with two counts of child molestation

A man in Whatcom County has been arrested and charged with child molestation after being accused of sexual contact with a child under age 12. The behavior was reported to the Whatcom County Sheriff’s Office on Aug. 15, according to Deb Slater with the Sheriff’s Office.

Michael Stewart Nault, 60, was charged Aug. 28 in the Whatcom Superior Court with two counts of first-degree child molestation (domestic violence), both class A felonies, according to court documents.

Slater said Nault turned himself in Sept. 4, four days after the initially agreed-upon date.

Nault was arrested by the Whatcom County Sheriff’s Office and booked into Whatcom County Jail at 6:15 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 4. He was released on a $5,000 bail.
