Stanwood man accused of raping 14-year-old after providing alcohol

Authorities arrested a Stanwood man who is accused of raping a 14-year-old in eastern Whatcom County over the extended Fourth of July holiday.

Mason James Clark, 22, was arrested Aug. 16 by local authorities in Stanwood, where he lives, and was turned over to the Whatcom County Sheriff’s Office.

Clark was known to the victim, who told authorities he provided alcohol prior to sexually assaulting them, according to Whatcom Undersheriff Steve Harris.

The sheriff’s office was notified of the crime Aug. 5 and issued a warrant for Clark’s arrest Aug. 15.

Clark has since been bonded out of custody at Whatcom County Jail.
