Blaine police arrest man accused of breaking into former coworker’s home and raping her
Blaine police arrested a man who is accused of breaking into a former employee’s residence while she slept and raping her, according to Lt. Michael Munden with the Blaine Police Department.
The woman told police she woke up in the early morning July 23 to discover Darrell James Cochran, 48, on top of her. She said he held her down and forcibly raped her as she told him no and screamed for help, Munden told The Bellingham Herald.
Munden said the woman reported last working with Cochran around three years ago. Cochran had been at the woman’s house earlier in the day before for a party and was asked to leave, Munden said.
The woman told police she believed she had internal injuries, and showed bruising on her arms and side to the investigating officers, Munden said.
Cochran was taken into custody July 27. He was arrested on suspicion of first-degree rape, first-degree burglary, kidnapping/unlawful imprisonment and fourth-degree assault. He remains in custody at Whatcom County Jail.
