Deming woman arrested for suspicion of DUI after crashing vehicle into residence

A Whatcom County woman suspected of driving while intoxicated crashed her vehicle through the walls of a private residence along State Route 9 between Deming and Acme around 7:30 p.m. June 8.

The driver and her passenger were taken to St. Joseph Medical Center for treatment of injuries. No one was in the home at the time of the crash, and no other injuries were reported, according to Washington State Patrol Trooper Kelsey Harding.

The vehicle was heading north on SR 9 near milepost 77, when it veered off the road to the right, where it crashed into the residence.

The driver, Tabitha C. Johnnie, 27, of Deming, was arrested on suspicion of DUI, according to Harding.
